Stddanceo. realises performances, installations and films. Ideas are developed around experiments with dance in relation to the context of plastic arts and the context of film. These experiments focus on the difference of experience of time and space in theatre on one hand and exhibition spaces on the other hand and on the (im) possibilities of editing in dance and film.Formal as this may sound, it is mostly a tool to come to the matter of how to perceive a person and movement. Her work evolves around the curiosity towards the way a dancer perceives his or her own body - the way it functions, what to expect from it – and the curiosity towards the way an audience perceives this body.We often look for the recognizable- certainties, truths. One possible task of these projects is to show the elusiveness of these truths. By transforming both ‘who’ someone is -by changing their actions- and ‘what’ someone is, by morphing their intrinsic qualities such as the shape of the body- the perception of a person can become fluid and changeable.
